Gunmen attacked a wake-keep ceremony in Ruwi village, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State on Thursday night, killing an unspecified number of people and injuring others. The State Government condemned the attack, with Commissioner for Information Joyce Ramnap decrying it as an attempt to sabotage Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s security efforts.

The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that the attack occurred at 9:20 p.m. and involved unknown armed assailants shooting sporadically. In response, Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Adesina directed officers to the scene and assured residents of ongoing investigations to ensure justice. Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm while security measures are reinforced.
