Tinubu Expands Nigerian Army to 12 Divisions To Help Ensure Fast Security Responses

In a move aimed at enhancing the Army’s ability to respond more effectively to emerging security threats in different regions of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the expansion of the Nigerian Army from its previous structure to 12 divisions as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s security architecture and improve military operations across the nation.

According to Military authorities, the expansion is expected to improve troop deployment, operational coordination, and command efficiency, particularly in areas affected by terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of criminal activity. Stating that, the additional divisions will help ensure faster responses to security challenges while increasing the Army’s presence nationwide.

The decision also reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to modernising the Nigerian Armed Forces by investing in personnel, equipment, training, and infrastructure. Security experts believe the restructuring could enhance intelligence gathering, border protection, and joint operations with other security agencies.

The Nigerian Army has continued to play a central role in maintaining peace and security across the country, supporting civil authorities in combating insecurity. The expansion to 12 divisions is expected to boost operational effectiveness and reinforce ongoing efforts to safeguard lives, property, and Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
