The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has advised the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences to handle the reported query issued to students over a viral chant with fairness and understanding.
The controversy arose after a section of students playfully modified a welcome song during her visit to Asaba for the Renewed Hope Initiative event, which aimed to support midwives and reduce maternal and infant mortality.
In a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, Mrs. Tinubu acknowledged the importance of discipline in institutions but emphasized that students should feel free to express themselves in moments of excitement.
She cautioned against punitive measures that could infringe on their freedom of expression. She expressed gratitude for the warm reception at the event and urged the college management to foster an environment that balances discipline with free expression.
