The Federal Government has unveiled an initiative with annual ₦365 million opened to the Tertiary Institutions National Laureate Prize designed to aimed at rewarding outstanding research, innovation and intellectual excellence across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions to give academic work greater national recognition and support.
The scheme is open to students and researchers in accredited universities, polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education across the country.
According to the federal government, the prize includes ₦35 million for the Undergraduate Star Prize, ₦50 million for the Master’s Star Prize and ₦100 million for the Doctoral Star Prize. Another ₦180 million will be distributed through 15 Thematic Excellence Prizes, with each category receiving ₦12 million.
The awards will cover areas including Engineering and Technology, Medicine and Health Sciences, Agriculture, Law, Arts and Social Sciences, and Teaching Innovation. The Federal Ministry of Education and the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank will jointly implement the programme through a transparent and merit-driven selection process.
