The Zion Prayer Movement Outreach has denied involvement in the continued detention of blogger Chizorom Ofoegbu, known as “Ijele Speaks,” who was previously sued by the ministry’s founder, Evangelist Ebuka Obi, over alleged threats to life. Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, the church’s media consultant and legal team clarified that Ofoegbu was granted bail in June 2024, and later received a court-approved variation of his bail terms.
The church presented court documents showing Ofoegbu had met bail conditions and should have been released. However, during a court hearing in October 2024, it was revealed that Ofoegbu remained in custody due to a separate case involving defamation and cyberstalking filed by another religious leader, Victor Onukaogu (Daddy Hezekiah), currently before a High Court in Awka.
Zion’s legal team emphasized that Obi played no role in Ofoegbu’s continued incarceration and only acted within his rights to report a credible threat. They described media reports linking Obi to the blogger’s detention as false and warned of possible legal action against those spreading misinformation.
