Nigerian activist andpresidentialcandidate, Omoyele Sowore has criticised an Indian hospital for featuring former Nigerian Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, in its promotional materials following the knee replacement surgery at the facility and raises concerns about how such endorsements are presented.

Sowore questioned the decision to feature Abubakar in the hospital’s publicity, arguing that the use of a prominent Nigerian public figure for promotional purposes.
Abubakar, who served as Nigeria’s military Head of State from 1998 to 1999, reportedly travelled to India for the medical procedure. The hospital subsequently highlighted his treatment as part of its promotional activities.
Sowore’s comments have drawn attention to the broader issue of how hospitals and other institutions use high-profile patients in advertising. The criticism comes amid ongoing public discussions about the treatment of Nigerian political leaders and public officials at medical facilities abroad.
