There Would Be Good Governance In Nigeria If The Senate Was Independent– Shehu Sani

Former senator who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani has expressed concern that there would be good governance in the country if the Senate was independent but Nigerians are only concerned about who becomes the president without usually taking seriously who becomes their lawmakers.

The social right activist stated this during an appearance on Channels TV while speaking on the reason why he is looking for a return to the Senate

According to him,  “I’m going back to the Senate because the laws allow it for you to go back to the Senate. There is no tenure in going to the National Assembly, whether it’s the Senate or the House of Representatives, and when your people felt that you have a lot to deliver, and you have a duty and responsibility to ensure they are well represented there.

“Nigerians are more concerned of who become the president of the country, they don’t usually take seriousness on who becomes their lawmakers, whether at the state level or at the federal level, and it’s very important.

“If you have a vibrant Senate, a potent Senate, if you have one that respects his integrity, his independent and the sanctity of his identity, you will have good governance in the country.”

Shehu Sani stated that the law allows a Nigerian to contest as many times as possible.
