A 38-year-old man, Adekunle Rotimi, has been arrested for attempting to strangle a policewoman while trying to escape from a courtroom in Osogbo, Osun State.

Rotimi, who was in custody for unlawful possession of firearms, allegedly attacked Policewoman Babatunde Omotayo on February 18, 2025, pinning her inside a fish pond in a bid to flee.
He pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and escape. His lawyer requested bail, arguing that the offenses were bailable, but the prosecutor opposed, citing his previous attempt to flee.
Presiding Magistrate Dr. Olusegun Ayilara granted Rotimi bail at N2 million with one surety who must own land in Osun State.
