National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has attributed the delay in paying corps members the new N77,000 wage to a lack of “cash backing.

NYSC spokesperson Caroline Embu confirmed that the funds are yet to be released. Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has criticized NYSC for not implementing the new wage months after the Federal Government approved it in July 2024.
Corps members recently received only N33,000 for their February allowance instead of the promised N70,000. While the Federal Government and some states have started paying the new minimum wage, NYSC has not provided a clear reason for the delay.
