Nursing College With No Official Accreditation Uncovered in Lagos

An unaccredited nursing college operates from two unfinished buildings in Ikorodu area of Lagos and admits students without requiring JAMB examinations, promising National Diploma and Higher National Diloma certificates despite having no official accreditation have been uncovered.

According to an investigation by PUNCH, revealed that the unaccredited nursing institution in Lagos called Tower College of Health, Science and Management, allegedly owned by a poultry, farmer linked to one of the blacklisted Benin Republic universities. The college began operations around 2024, claiming to offer over 20 courses, including Nursing Science, Political Science, and Mass Communication. However, investigations showed that it lacked recognition from any Nigerian educational authority. Students were charged ₦334,000 per session, while female students were compelled to pay ₦200,000 for hostel accommodation.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that Tower College had applied for registration but had not been approved. A government official explained that due to a moratorium on new private and federal institutions, the college’s accreditation could not be processed, meaning it was operating illegally.
