Miley Cyrus Reveals Impact of Reinke’s Edema on Her Voice

American pop star Miley Cyrus has revealed that she suffers from Reinke’s edema, a noncancerous condition affecting the vocal cords, during a candid interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. The condition, often linked to long-term smoking, causes fluid buildup and swelling in the vocal folds, affecting voice quality.

Cyrus acknowledged that her youthful habits of drinking, smoking, and partying contributed to the stress on her vocal cords, but she emphasized that her condition is largely genetic. She explained that her voice has always had its distinctive tone due to her unique anatomy, and not solely from lifestyle choices.

Despite having a large polyp on her vocal cords, Cyrus expressed reluctance to undergo surgery, citing fears of losing her signature voice. She stated that the risk of sounding different after the procedure outweighs the potential benefits, reinforcing her decision to avoid surgical intervention.
