A jegacy that lives on, the Nigerian creative and cultural community mourns the passing of veteran Yoruba actor, filmmaker and storyteller, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who died away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66.
A statement by the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), posted on facebook stated that, Ogogo was more than an actor. For decades, he brought Yoruba stories, characters, language and cultural values to life on stage and screen, leaving an indelible mark on Nigerian cinema and generations of audiences.
Addi g that his powerful performances and commitment to indigenous storytelling helped preserve and promote our cultural identity through film.
“At the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and the entire Nigerian creative community.
“Your stories may have ended, Ogogo, but your legacy will continue to speak.”
