Former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, has9 denied allegations in former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s new book, Nigeria: Past and Future, which claims that corruption worsened under President qMuhammadu Buhari, with Malami playing a key role.

The book accuses Malami of influencing the presidential pardons granted to convicted ex-governors Joshua Dariye and Jolly Nyame, alleging that the process was tainted by corruption.
In response, Malami clarified that presidential pardons are decided by a designated committee and not the Attorney General. He stated that his role was limited to presenting the committee’s report to the Council of State.
He also criticized the prevalence of unsubstantiated corruption allegations against public officials, emphasizing the need for detailed, evidence-based claims to ensure credibility. Malaaccusationsmi concluded that baseless serve only to mislead the public and lack legal merit.
