Lomond School in Helensburgh, Scotland, has become the first private school in the UK to accept cryptocurrency—specifically Bitcoin—for tuition payments, starting from the autumn term. Responding to parental requests and aiming to reflect its innovative values, the school will convert all Bitcoin payments into British pounds immediately to mitigate market volatility. Annual fees at the school can reach up to £38,000.

Head teacher Claire Chisholm emphasized that the move aligns with Lomond’s tradition of fostering forward-thinking individuals, noting that television inventor John Logie Baird was an alumnus. The school assures that all transactions will adhere to UK financial laws, including those concerning anti-money laundering and taxation.
