The Nigerian Federal Government has rejected a social media post by the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and testimonies by two religious leaders at a U.S. Congressional hearing, calling their claims on the country’s security and religious persecution inaccurate.

In a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government defended its efforts to combat insecurity, highlighting military deployments, peace-building initiatives, and policy reforms. It criticized the portrayal of the crisis as unchecked violence or religious extermination, reaffirming its commitment to protecting all citizens and upholding fundamental freedoms. The government urged responsible, balanced reporting and constructive dialogue.
