Michelle Trachtenberg, known for her roles as Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Georgina Sparks in Gossip Girl, has passed away at the age of 39.
The New York Police Department confirmed her death, stating that no foul play is suspected. Authorities found her unresponsive in Manhattan on Wednesday morning, and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Trachtenberg began acting at three years old and gained fame with her film debut in Harriet the Spy (1996) and roles in several Nickelodeon productions. She starred in films such as EuroTrip, Ice Princess, and Killing Kennedy and was nominated for multiple acting awards in the early 2000s. Her last major role was hosting the 2021 true-crime docuseries Meet, Marry, Murder.
In 2021, she joined other actors in accusing Buffy creator Joss Whedon of inappropriate behavior on set. Her passing is currently under investigation.
