Following a swift respond from a distress call around 11:30 p.m, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Tactical Squad of the Enugu State Police Command successfully rescued a man who was abducted in the Awkunanaw area of Enugu on October 19, 2025.

A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer Enugu State Command Daniel Ndukwe, stated that, the police traced the suspects to the Ozalla/Umueze axis of Nkanu West Local Government Area.
The kidnappers reportedly fled upon sighting the police, abandoning the victim, his Lexus 350 vehicle, and a locally fabricated Beretta-like pistol loaded with three live rounds. The quick intervention by the operatives not only led to the victim’s rescue but also the recovery of vital evidence left behind by the fleeing criminals.
Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, praised the operatives for their professionalism and quick response, reaffirming the Command’s determination to combat crime across the state.
