Nigerian Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage has revealed that she decided to freeze her eggs to keep the option of having more children open in the future. In an interview with Zeze Mills, the 42-year-old mother of one said she wished she had taken the step earlier and now advocates for women in their 30s to do the same as a way of taking control of their fertility.
Savage explained that having her first child in her 30s was a blessing because she was more financially and emotionally stable. However, she emphasized that women could face reduced egg reserves as they age, making it important to consider egg freezing before it becomes too late. She described the process as a form of “insurance” for those who may decide to have children later in life.
The singer, who welcomed her first child at 34 with her then-husband Teebillz in 2015, stressed that whether or not a woman is certain about having kids, freezing eggs provides valuable security for the future. She now strongly supports the practice and encourages more women to explore it early.
