South African Court Released Former Miss Universe Nigeria Chidimma Adetshina On Warning Over Deportation Case

Former Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, Chidimma Adetshina has been released on warning, while the case continues as she is facing deportation from South Africa, after being arrested for allegedly living in the country illegally.

FChidimma Adetshina, appeared before the Cape Town Regional Court on Thursday, July 16, 2026, as her legal battle against deportation continued. She was arrested in June over allegations that she was living in South Africa without valid immigration status.

During Thursday’s proceedings, Adetshina was expected to submit an affidavit outlining the steps she says she has taken to regularise her immigration status. According to reports, the document forms part of her legal challenge against the Department of Home Affairs’ application to deport her.

Adetshina was arrested on June 6 and first appeared in court on June 9. She was later released on warning, with the case adjourned to allow the legal process to continue. South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs alleges that both Adetshina and her minor son were residing in the country unlawfully and is seeking their deportation through the courts.

Court documents filed by immigration authorities also allege that Adetshina entered South Africa despite being prohibited from doing so. However, these allegations are still before the court and have not yet been proven or tested at trial.
