Nigerian music executive Don Jazzy has publicly criticized a food vendor who gave him free nkwobi and later requested that his artist, Rema, perform at her event for free in return. He shared the bizarre incident in a viral Instagram video, expressing his frustration over the unexpected demand.
Don Jazzy stated that he accepted the gift only after the vendor insisted, but was shocked when she later asked for Rema to be the “repayment.” He questioned the logic behind equating a plate of nkwobi with a performance by a top artist, highlighting the absurdity of the request.
He used the opportunity to warn others against offering him unsolicited gifts in hopes of receiving favors in return. Emphasizing that such gestures can lead to uncomfortable obligations, he firmly declared, “No one should give me free gifts again. I don’t want it.”
