A 14-year-old girl from Akwa Ibom State was trafficked into Ogun State and forced into prostitution, sleeping with 10-12 men daily. She was among 16 victims rescued by the Ogun State Amotekun Corps in a raid on a sex trafficking camp in Ifo Local Government Area.

The victims, aged 12-39, were coerced into taking oaths and subjected to traumatic experiences, including being stripped naked and having parts of their hair cut off for alleged ritual purposes.
The 14-year-old survivor reported being paid up to N20,000 per day, which was then taken by the camp’s boss, Idem Joy. Another victim, a 17-year-old girl, shared a similar story of abuse and exploitation, saying she was promised freedom after a year of work and a phone and clothes as rewards.
The Amotekun Corps arrested 15 suspects, including Idem Joy, and recovered items such as cash, drugs, and condoms. The case highlights the need for increased efforts to combat sex trafficking in Nigeria and provide support to victims.
The Ogun State government and relevant authorities must take swift action to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice and that the victims receive the necessary care and support to recover from their ordeal.
