The White House has denied a report claiming President Donald Trump was told in May that his name appears in U.S. Justice Department documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, the late convicted sex offender. According to The Wall Street Journal, Attorney General Pam Bondi told Trump during a routine meeting, but the White House called the story “fake news.” They insisted being named in the files doesn’t mean Trump did anything wrong. However, an unnamed official confirmed that Trump’s name had shown up in documents released earlier this year.

During his campaign, Trump promised to release all Epstein-related files, but many of his supporters are now upset that this hasn’t happened. They are especially angry that the Justice Department and FBI said no “client list” exists, despite earlier rumors. This has led to frustration and suspicion among Trump’s loyal base, with some even demanding resignations from top officials like Bondi.
Epstein died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking. His death was ruled a suicide, but it has fueled many conspiracy theories. A judge in Florida recently blocked the release of some court files related to Epstein’s past crimes, saying state law doesn’t allow it. In New York, other judges are still deciding whether to unseal similar files.
Meanwhile, attention has turned to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former partner, who is in prison for helping him abuse girls. She may meet with the Justice Department and could be called to testify before Congress. Her lawyer said she may speak truthfully, depending on how things go with the DOJ. Some politicians doubt she can be trusted.
The fight over the Epstein files has split Republicans in Congress. Some want all documents released, while others are holding back. A House subcommittee voted to demand the files from the Justice Department, but the request still needs final approval. Democrats are now accusing Trump’s team of hiding the truth.
