The Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the new national chairman of the party, after the party’s NEC meeting held in Abuja, replaced Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje who resigned in June 2025 due to health reasons.

Professor Nentawe was a governorship candidate in Plateau State in the 2023 election under APC. Also, he was the electoral commissioner of INEC from 2017 to 2021, where he led the electoral process in many states and rhe currently the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
The APC NEC meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governors of the party, Professor Nentawe appointment came with the aim of strengthening unity and equal representation in the party, as the North Central region has its right in the seat of the party chairman.
