A US judge has ordered Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to disclose its internal records, citing concerns over its secrecy and sweeping federal budget cuts. DOGE, led by Musk under President Donald Trump’s administration, has eliminated thousands of government jobs without congressional input, sparking multiple lawsuits.

Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that the agency’s rapid actions require immediate transparency, stating that DOGE is likely subject to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The court mandated the release of records, with the government required to provide a status update by March 20 and a joint report by March 27.
The decision follows growing concerns over Trump’s aggressive efforts to shrink federal agencies, with critics warning of potential harm to public services.
