The United States has imported over two million barrels of aviation fuel from Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery in March, marking a major milestone for the newly operational refinery.

According to ship-tracking service Kpler, at least six vessels carrying 1.7 million barrels of jet fuel from Dangote Refinery have arrived at US ports this month. Another vessel, the Hafnia Andromeda, is set to deliver an additional 348,000 barrels to the Everglades terminal on March 29.
The 650,000 barrels per day capacity refinery has been gaining traction in the global market, with previous exports of 130 million litres of jet fuel to Saudi Arabia. The refinery has also been competing with European refiners on gasoline exports, and its latest shipments to the US could challenge domestic fuel producers in the world’s largest fuel-consuming nation.
Economist Dr. Muda Yusuf, CEO of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprises, described the export as a historic achievement for Nigeria.
“Nothing could be more prideful for us as a country than the fact that we now have a refinery producing products that can be exported to the United States. It speaks to the quality, standards, and trust that international communities have in the Dangote refinery,” he said.
