President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with Lagos State House of Assembly members, including reinstated Speaker Mudashiru Obasa and former Speaker Mojisola Meranda, at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday.
The meeting addressed the recent leadership crisis, which saw Obasa impeached on January 13, 2025, over alleged misconduct. Meranda was elected as his replacement, but Obasa rejected his removal and took legal action. Following interventions from political stakeholders, including the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Obasa was reinstated as Speaker on March 3, 2025.
After the meeting, the lawmakers were heard singing “On your mandate, we shall stand”, showing loyalty to Tinubu. However, tensions remain within the Assembly despite Obasa’s reinstatement.
