Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has issued a strong caution to President Bola Tinubu, warning him against “playing God” and asserting that the current administration is leading Nigeria astray.
In his state of the nation address delivered at the church auditorium in Lagos, Bakare emphasized that his critique stems from a desire for national progress rather than opposition for its own sake. He called on the President to adopt a more humble and people-focused approach to governance.
Bakare also expressed concern over the weakening of Nigeria’s democratic institutions under Tinubu’s leadership. He particularly criticized the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan by the National Assembly, labeling it as retaliation for her demand for transparency. He challenged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to explain the Senate’s actions and reaffirm its commitment to democratic accountability and openness.
