Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has said tgat Arabic should be given greater recognition within the country’s education system alongside other foreign languages.
Governor Mohammed who called for the inclusion of the Arabic language in Nigeria’s school curriculum, arguing that it is an important language with educational, cultural, and religious value.
The governor noted that Arabic is spoken by millions of people around the world and serves as an official language in several countries. According to him, introducing it into the curriculum would provide students with additional learning opportunities and improve their understanding of different cultures and global communication.
Mohammed also stressed that the proposal is aimed at promoting education rather than advancing any religious agenda. He maintained that learning Arabic would be optional and would equip interested students with valuable language skills that could benefit them academically and professionally.
The governor urged relevant education authorities and stakeholders to consider the proposal, saying that expanding language education would help prepare Nigerian students for a more interconnected world while promoting inclusiveness and cultural diversity.
