Senator representing Ogun West, Olamilekan Adeola has defended the decision of President Bola Tinubu to remove the fuel subsidy and i tax reforms policies save Nigeria over N10 trillion annually and are vital for long-term economic stability.
He highlighted that before the subsidy removal, Nigeria was borrowing billions monthly to keep fuel prices low, which was financially unsustainable. Adeola emphasized that the country’s economy is now on a better path, with improvements seen in both micro and macroeconomic levels. He pointed to major infrastructure projects like the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road and Sokoto–Badagry Highway as evidence of the government’s commitment to national development.

Addressing concerns about tax reforms, Adeola reassured that the government and National Assembly are working together transparently, with any final tax laws reflecting parliamentary consensus. He also praised Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun for infrastructure projects boosting the state’s economy.
Supporting these views, the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Ishiaq Salako, noted positive signs such as the end of fuel queues and forecasts of economic growth and lower inflation in 2026. He urged critics to propose better policies, affirming that the government’s reforms enjoy strong public support.
