In a bid to ensure the well-being of 2025 Hajj-intending pilgrims, the Lagos State Government has launched a free medical screening initiative, sponsored by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

Speaking at the event held in Badagry for pilgrims from Badagry and Ojo LGAs, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ibrahim Layode, emphasized the importance of the exercise, warning that anyone who fails the screening may not be allowed to embark on the pilgrimage.
Layode praised the state government’s decision to decentralize the process, making it more accessible and relieving the financial burden on participants amid economic hardship. The screening covers blood and urine tests to evaluate each pilgrim’s health status and determine necessary care during the Hajj.
Secretary of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, encouraged full participation, describing the initiative as an unprecedented show of support from the state leadership.
