Pastor Adeboye Reaffirms Peaceful Death Vision, Urges Christians to Claim Blessings

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has reiterated his belief that he will die peacefully on a Sunday after church service and enjoying his favourite meal, pounded yam. Speaking at the church’s ongoing International Convention themed “The Overcomers,” he stressed that death for believers can be sudden and painless, without prolonged illness. Adeboye first shared this vision two years ago and said he was repeating it to reassure Christians that passing away can be peaceful in Christ.

Delivering a sermon titled “Possess Your Possessions”, Adeboye encouraged Christians to actively claim what is rightfully theirs in Christ, warning that spiritual blessings often require a fight. He likened it to the biblical story of the Israelites taking the Promised Land, stressing that believers must stand against spiritual opposition to enjoy healing, prosperity, fruitfulness, and long life.

On prosperity, Adeboye noted that God paid the ultimate price for believers not to live in poverty. He criticised the hypocrisy faced by Christians who succeed, pointing out that they are often judged whether they are rich or poor. Using examples from the Bible, such as Rachel and Hannah, he highlighted how persistent prayer and faith can overcome challenges like barrenness.

In conclusion, Adeboye urged believers to reject all forms of spiritual oppression, including sickness, poverty, and premature death. Drawing from the story of Jacob wrestling with an angel, he reminded Christians that they must persevere in faith and not tolerate anything contrary to God’s promises. He emphasised that fighting to claim these blessings is both a spiritual duty and a right made possible through Christ’s sacrifice.
