Osun Communal Clashes: Governor Imposes 24-Hour Curfew to Curb Violence

The communal clashes between the Ifon and Ilobu communities escalated on Saturday, spreading to Erin Osun. In response, Governor Ademola Adeleke imposed a 24-hour curfew after an initial 12-hour curfew proved insufficient. Displaced residents, including many northerners, were seen leaving Okinni.

Governor Adeleke has intensified efforts to de-escalate the conflict by deploying a joint security task force and mediating peace talks. His spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, reassured residents of the government’s commitment to their safety while cautioning against misinformation. He warned that opposition groups were circulating old conflict videos to spread false narratives of insecurity in Osun State.
