Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has issued a strong warning to individuals or groups planning to visit the state without his prior knowledge. He stated that such visits pose a security risk and that the state government would not be responsible for the safety of anyone who enters the state unannounced. This warning comes amid heightened political tensions and ongoing efforts by the state government to address pressing local issues.

The governor particularly emphasized that visits to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps must be cleared with the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA). He underscored the importance of formal approval for all visits, especially those that could trigger political gatherings or public assemblies. The directive aims to ensure the safety of all parties and maintain order within the state.
According to a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor is currently engaged in high-level meetings concerning the state’s challenges. The announcement reiterated that no “August visitor” was expected and urged security personnel and the public to comply with the directive. The move highlights the administration’s prioritization of security and controlled access to vulnerable populations.
