As part of efforts to transform the country from a resource-based economy into a knowledge-driven economy, the Federal Government has announced plans to establish 41 university innovation hubs across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The government said the initiative would help strengthen Nigeria’s capacity for research, technology and entrepreneurship while creating opportunities for young people. The initiative is expected to contribute to economic diversification and position knowledge, innovation and technology as key drivers of national development.
Adding that, the hubs is expected to provide students, researchers and young innovators with access to facilities and opportunities to develop new ideas, technologies and solutions to local challenges. It will also promote collaboration between universities, industry and other stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem.
