As over three thousand delegates are prepare to attend a national elective convention of the People Democratic Party (PDP), scheduled to hold onthe 15-18 of November, 2025, the party is facing intensified internal crisis after conflicting court orders emerged.

PUNCH reports that, the convention has become a major point of dispute between two power blocs in the party. One bloc is led by the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, supported by PDP governors, the Board of Trustees, and state chairmen. The opposing bloc is aligned with Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, who has installed a parallel leadership structure in defiance of the existing party hierarchy.
However, some party insiders note that ongoing reconciliation efforts may influence the final outcome before the convention date. They argue that the convention is necessary to install a new leadership capable of stabilizing the PDP and restoring internal unity. The results of leadership negotiations expected during the week will determine whether the convention proceeds smoothly or escalates the party’s internal crisis.
