Chidinma Ojukwu Recounts Discovery of Ataga’s Body in Ongoing Murder Trial

Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect in the murder of Super TV CEO Michael Ataga, testified before a Lagos High Court, narrating the events leading to the discovery of Ataga’s lifeless body in a Lekki apartment on June 15, 2021.

The former University of Lagos student described their relationship, revealing Ataga supported her financially and that they met through mutual friends. She recounted their stay in the apartment, including their outings, drug use, and Ataga’s requests for substances like cannabis, Rohypnol, and cocaine. She explained that after returning from a food run, she found the apartment door ajar, blood on the floor, and Ataga dead.

During her testimony, Chidinma admitted to taking some of Ataga’s belongings out of fear and confusion, including documents and personal items. She claimed she found the body, panicked, cleaned herself up, changed clothes, and left the scene. She later discovered Ataga’s bank statements and IDs in a brown envelope. The court, presided over by Justice Yetunde Adesanya, adjourned the trial to April 28, 2025, for continuation. Chidinma is being tried alongside Adedapo Quadri and her sister Chioma Egbuchu on charges of murder, conspiracy, and theft.
