Senior Correctional Assistant (SCA) Shuaibu King David tragically lost his life while heroically preventing an inmate escape, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) confirmed.
According to Service Spokesman DCC Abubakar Umar, David’s unwavering commitment to duty ensured that five fleeing inmates were swiftly rearrested, while efforts continue to recapture others still at large.
In a statement, Acting Controller-General Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche extended heartfelt condolences to David’s family, colleagues, and loved ones, emphasizing that his sacrifice would forever be honored. The NCoS is now working closely with security agencies and local communities to track down the remaining fugitives and reinforce security in custodial centers nationwide.
