Reality TV star and actress Bamike Olawunmi, popularly known as Bambam, has opened up about the life-threatening complications she faced while giving birth to her first child, Zendaya, in 2020.

Speaking on the Me & My Girls podcast, she described the experience as traumatic, revealing that her kidney failed, her heart weakened, and her liver began shutting down during labor.
Bambam explained that her daughter had detached from the placenta, and if she had arrived at the hospital a second later, it could have resulted in a stillbirth. The ordeal left her deeply shaken, leading to persistent “what if” thoughts that haunted her for a long time. She eventually sought therapy to help her process the experience and focus on gratitude.
The actress also highlighted the role of medical negligence in maternal and infant mortality, emphasizing the importance of timely and competent healthcare during childbirth.
