The Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has called for a fair and thorough investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and intimidation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a statement by its National Organizing Secretary, Otunba Kole Omololu, Afenifere warned against condemning Akpabio without evidence, emphasizing his role in maintaining political stability and fostering Executive-Legislative synergy.
The group noted the timing of the allegations, which coincided with disciplinary action taken against Akpoti-Uduaghan, and urged the Senate to investigate the matter objectively.
While refraining from taking sides, Afenifere reaffirmed its support for Akpabio’s leadership, highlighting his contributions during Nigeria’s ongoing political and economic reforms.
