Adamu Garba Backed Trump’s Genocide Claims, Calls for U.S.–Nigeria Cooperation on Security

Speaking in an interview with Trust TV, Garba referenced the high number of deaths from violent attacks across the country,  recalled that in 2014, when the APC was still in opposition, party members sought U.S. assistance over mass killings linked to the Chibok girls’ abduction.

Garba further noted that Nigeria has maintained security ties with the United States, including the recent purchase of $346 million worth of arms and ongoing military training.

According to him, the U.S. plays a leading role in global counterterrorism under the United Nations’ “Responsibility to Protect” (R2P) doctrine, which gives it grounds to intervene in countries battling terrorism.

He emphasized that Nigeria should not dismiss America’s concerns lightly, given its longstanding support.
