At their fourth meeting of 2025 held in Ibadan, governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) dismissed ongoing speculations about a potential merger of parties ahead of the 2027 general elections. The forum, chaired by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, affirmed that the PDP would not join any coalition but remains open to welcoming individuals or groups willing to join its ranks.

The governors also addressed internal party issues, recommending the Deputy National Secretary act in place of a substantive National Secretary from the South East, pending INEC’s ratification. They emphasized their resolve to seek a Supreme Court interpretation on the declaration of states of emergency, expressing solidarity with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid the crisis in his state.
Condemning worsening security in Borno, Katsina, Edo, and Plateau States, the Forum called for a revised national security strategy empowering state governments. They also scheduled key party activities: a NEC meeting on May 27, and the party’s national convention for August 28–30 in Kano. Committee heads for zoning and the convention were announced, including Governors Douye Diri and Ahmadu Fintiri.
The forum appreciated Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for hosting the meeting.
