Davido has revealed that he has never met U.S. rapper Nicki Minaj in person, despite working with her on two songs. Speaking on the Bootleg Kev podcast, he shared how their collaborations came about, starting with a direct message on Instagram after noticing she followed him.
Davido recalled that after he messaged Minaj, she responded the next morning, expressing interest in collaborating. Their first project together was Holy Ground in 2020, where she recorded and sent her verse within two days. Plans to shoot a music video in Los Angeles fell through as Minaj was expecting her baby at the time.
Their relationship remained strong, leading to a second collaboration last year for her anniversary album, Pink 3. Davido praised Minaj for her continuous support, describing her as “amazing” and emphasizing their close connection despite never having met in person.
