Canada Returnee Arrested for Assaulting KAI Official in Lagos

52-year-old man, Morufudeen Idowu, who recently returned from Canada, was arrested in Lagos for allegedly assaulting an official of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), also known as KAI. The incident occurred at the Ojota corridor, where KAI officials were enforcing laws against unlawful crossing of the expressway.

According to Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, Idowu refused to comply with the officers’ lawful instructions and physically attacked one of them. Wahab confirmed the arrest on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, noting that the suspect was taken into custody at the LAGESC office in Oshodi.

The Commissioner stated that Idowu would be prosecuted according to state laws. He also emphasized that crossing expressways without using pedestrian bridges is illegal in Lagos, highlighting the government’s commitment to ensuring safety and order in public spaces.
