Following disagreement between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike and All Progressives Congress (APC) governors over the Rainbow Coalition, a cross-party platform associated with efforts to mobilise support for Tinubu, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has urged Wike to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) if he intends to support President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. Lawal said Wike should clearly define his political allegiance ahead of the elections.
Governor Lawal argued that Wike could not support Tinubu at the presidential level while backing candidates from other parties in governorship and legislative elections.
Wike, who remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has maintained that his support for Tinubu does not require him to join the APC. He has also defended the coalition as a platform that allows politicians from different parties to support Tinubu while retaining their party affiliations.
