Police operatives in Lagos have arrested a woman and her accomplice for allegedly trafficking young girls, including her 19-year-old daughter, to Mauritania for commercial sex work in exchange for N50,000 per victim.
According to the Zone 2 Command spokesperson, Umma Ayuba, the suspects operated with accomplices in Mauritania.
One of the suspects admitted to recruiting girls under 22, receiving over N500,000 from the trafficking network.
Another suspect, initially unaware of the scheme, withdrew after realizing the victims were being used as sex workers. The police have confirmed that the suspects will be charged in court upon completing investigations.
