In an interview , Pierre Kompany disclosed that Chelsea, Brighton, and Tottenham had all shown interest in Vincent’s services.
However, the former Manchester City captain opted for the Bayern Munich job, signing a three-year deal with the German giants.
“It was a surprise to the whole world. Well, not for me,” Pierre Kompany said.
“If you look at which teams have already come knocking: last year you had Tottenham and Chelsea, now Brighton showed interest, and Chelsea again. But when Bayern, a club that is so well-structured at all levels, comes knocking, you don’t refuse.”
Despite Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League under Vincent’s management, Bayern Munich saw his potential and appointed him as their new manager.
Pierre Kompany believes that Bayern’s recognition of his son’s vision and coaching abilities led to the appointment.
“At Bayern, they did not focus blindly on that relegation.
They know Burnley should have got more points.
They thought it was good that Vincent does not deny his vision when he falls behind,” he added.
