VeryDarkMan Was Arrested For Grave Allegations Of financial Malfeasance – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has confirmed the arrest of Martins Innocent Otse over what it described as “grave allegations of financial malfeasance,” following his repeated refusal to honour several invitations extended to him.

In a statement issued by the Commission on Tuesday, the anti-graft agency said Otse was invited in connection with a series of petitions it received, all bordering on alleged financial crimes. EFCC urged Nigerians to refrain from speculating about its motives and allow it to carry out its constitutional duties.

“Martins Innocent Otse was invited owing to a series of petitions bordering on sundry issues of alleged financial crimes raised against him,” the EFCC stated. The suspect failed to show up despite several invitations sent through his known addresses and communication channels “He refused to show up in spite of several invitations sent to him,” the statement read.

The EFCC clarified that while it is aware of “several unguarded attacks” made by Otse against its operations, his arrest was not motivated by those actions. “While such conduct is condemnable, his arrest was not informed by such attacks. The relevant law enforcement agency will be allowed to look into them,” the Commission noted.

The anti-graft agency also insisted it acted within the law by detaining Otse. It explained that a valid remand order was obtained to keep him in custody while investigations continue. The Commission revealed that Otse has been offered administrative bail and would regain his freedom upon meeting the bail conditions.
