President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the United States to withdraw from the World Health Organization (WHO), criticizing the organization’s handling of COVID-19 and alleging financial disparities favoring China.

This marks the second attempt to sever ties, following a similar move during his first term that was later reversed by former President Joe Biden. Trump’s order halts future US funding to the WHO and calls for identifying alternative partners for global health efforts.
The administration also plans to rescind Biden’s 2024 Global Health Security Strategy. The decision comes amid concerns over the H5N1 bird flu outbreak and ongoing WHO negotiations on a pandemic treaty, which will now proceed without US involvement.
