COAS Directs Relentless Operations Against Terrorists, Reaffirms Troops Welfare

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has directed troops to sustain relentless, proactive, and intelligence-driven operations against terrorists and criminal elements, stressing that operational effectiveness and troop welfare are central to the Nigerian Army’s success.

Speaking to troops of the Headquarters Nigerian Army Armour Corps and 33 Artillery Brigade at Shadawanka Barracks, Bauchi, on 27 March 2026, he charged them to maintain high operational readiness and intensify efforts to decisively neutralize threats, noting that ongoing insecurity has displaced innocent citizens and must be brought to an end.

Reaffirming his command philosophy, the COAS assured troops of continued provision of critical logistics and operational enablers, while emphasizing professionalism, tactical efficiency, and sustained pressure to deny criminals freedom of action and restore public confidence.

He also underscored his unwavering commitment to troop welfare as a key driver of combat effectiveness, and during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Dr Suleiman Rilwanu, called for sustained collaboration between the military and host communities to eliminate banditry and restore lasting peace.
