Vice President Kashim Shettima has been deployed to Kebbi State to console families of the abducted students of following a late-night attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, and assure them of the government’s commitment to securing their safe return.
In a statement by his adviser, Bayo Onanuga, president Tinubu expressed deep concern over the attack, noting that it occurred despite prior intelligence warnings. He commended Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for attempting to prevent the kidnapping.
Tinubu also extended condolences to the military following the deaths of Brigadier General Musa Uba and several soldiers killed in Borno while fighting insurgents. He described the tragedies as painful setbacks, stressing that he is saddened both by the disruption of the girls’ education and the loss of military personnel on active duty.
The President emphasized that community cooperation is essential in combating insecurity, urging citizens—especially those in high-risk areas—to share timely information with security agencies. Shettima is expected in Kebbi on Wednesday to meet state officials, comfort parents, and reaffirm the government’s determination to bring the girls home.
